Getting around

This is more a travelling and planing blog so if you are looking for my daily life, you’ll have to look somewhere else :)

2008 Kruger to Victoria Falls

I’ve got the plans for the Safari. Looks nice…

Day 1 Panorama Route/Nyani Tribal Village

After an early start we leave the city of gold and make our way through the Mpumalanga province en-route to the Drakensberg Escarpment. We spend the day visiting the scenic sights along the Panoramic Route including: God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Three Rondawels at the magnificent

Blyde River Canyon. From here we journey onto the Shangaan tribal village, where a guided tour gives us an insight into the culture and traditions of the local Shangaan people. We enjoy an exciting evening of tribal dancing, singing and a traditional African dinner. We overnight in traditional huts. Please note that due to availability the first and second night might be in the Kruger Park and the third night will be in that case on the third night.

Day 2 Kruger National Park

Up at sunrise as we travel a short distance to the Kruger National Park. Upon entering the Kruger Park we begin our search for the many species of birds, mammals and reptiles that inhabit the Park. The Kruger Park is home to a wide diversity of animals including Africa’s Big Five. Our game drive takes us to our campsite, where we board an open safari vehicle and head out on an exciting night drive. Evening to be spent camping within the Kruger Park.

Day 3 Kruger National Park

An early morning game drive takes us along some of the best game drive routes that the Kruger Park has to offer. Sunrise at a waterhole offers scenes straight out of National Geographic. The entire day is spent game viewing, bird watching and stopping off at the various waterholes en-route to our next camp. Evening to be spent relaxing around the campfire reminiscing about the day’s events – camping within the Kruger Park

Day 4 Polokwane

We venture out on our final game drive in the Kruger Park before heading towards the town of Polokwane, where we overnight en-route to Botswana.

Day 5 Nata/Elephant Sands Botswana

Leaving South Africa, we cross into Botswana. This vast, thinly populated country is one of Africa’s economic success stories due to its mineral wealth. After changing money into the local currency, we continue to Nata/Elephant Sands, where we camp on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans.

Day 6 Livingstone (Victoria Falls)

This morning we make our way through the Chobe district, where it is common to see migratory elephants along the roadside. Crossing into Zambia via the Kazangula ferry, we arrive in Livingstone, where we spend the afternoon on a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River.

Day 7 Livingstone (Victoria Falls)

This morning we visit the Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The rest of the day is then open to enjoy the many activities available in this adrenalin “Capital of Africa”.
