Getting around
This is more a travelling and planing blog so if you are looking for my daily life, you’ll have to look somewhere else :)Going out
Ok, now I’m set for the night. I have a small room at Blue Mountain Backpacker. It’s right in the street where all the pubs and restaurants with live music are situated. I will go to the bar “Mama Africa” where a SA live band will play.
Falling rocks and sunset
I planed to get to the point of good hope (or just point as the say here) already today but the road was blocked due to falling rocks. I’ll have to go there tomorrow.
On my way back I had the most marvellous sunset in the Atlantic Ocean. And the Table Mountain looked astonishing in the yellow light.
Karoo biking – picking up the bike
Now I am picking up my bike at the BMW-pavilion in Cape Town Waterfront. I must say, I have never seen a fancier car sale house. The bike is exactly the same as my own, even the same colour. The people are very friendly and I’ll be going on the roads in a couple of minutes. Nice J
Lots of food
A short flight to Cape Town, getting more food. So far I have been eating a hot meal on every flight and I can say it’s not nice anymore. Anyway, I landed I Cape Town. I saw the Table Mountain from the window and there where no clouds. All of Cape Town is sunny and warm. I got picked up by the transfer company I booked from Sweden, about 150 kr to take me downtown.
Unexpected welcoming
I eventually arrived in Johannesburg, picking up my luggage and clearing customs.
Outside the doors, you know where normally all the people are standing waiting for there friends and relatives, I found 2 people carrying a sign with my name on it and a Swedish flag. It was Dani and Richard (nice name there…). I met them on the Internet in a forum. They are both riding BMW:s and wanted to welcome me to SA. It was a great feeling. They took me around the airport showing me everything and I manged to get the next flight to Cape Town.
Delayed
My flight from Frankfurt was delayed over one hour, I’ll miss my connecting flight to Cape Town. That means I’ll miss Volvo ocean Race 😦
Airport, last minute in Stockholm
I’m not surprised, the first flight is delayed 45 minutes. I should be already be in the air. Well, I’ll have to hurry up in Frankfurt.
I bought som gifts here, quite expensive, but I haven’t got the time before. Dalahästar, wooden “butter knife” and Swedish Snaps will go to South Africa.
Next time you here from me will be from Frankfurt or South Africa.
So long Sweden!
Packing
Doing last preparations. Packing, unpacking, checking, repacking. And still I think I will forget something. I found a way to put together my two bags for the bike panniers to a single suitcase.
Down in SA the weather is quite bad. On TV this morning they were talking about the lowest pressure since 1979. I’m happy it’s looking better for the week end.
I leave Sweden tomorrow at 19.00. Flying to Frankfurt where I jump on to the next flight to Johannesburg. I will land there at 10.00 local time. After leaving my Safari luggage I will go on to Cape Town, my third flight in 24h.
Needles
Vaccine, how fortunate that I’m not afraid of needles. I got stung three times today. 🙂
