Getting around
This is more a travelling and planing blog so if you are looking for my daily life, you’ll have to look somewhere else :)More plans
On the right (Journeys) you now can read about the safari part of my journey. I even stole some pictures from the Internet…
Where to sleep?

Blue Mountain Backpackers is the place where I will stay my first night in SA. It’s cheep and looks nice. Situated down town not far from the Harbour. I will try to stay at backpackers for the bike-part, it’s more fun when you are travelling alone, easier to meet people.
Before moving on to Hermanus and Moby’s Traveller’s Lodge, I will visit some of the “must-parts” of Cape Town. Table Mountain and Robbin Island will hopefully be nice before whale watching down south.
Hospitality
Today I got invited to stay one night with some fellow bikers in Pretoria. I just love that kind of people. They even want to pick me up from the airport. They say “Taxi’s are an unnecessary expense when there are friendly BMW Motorcycle Club Pretoria members available to help out…”
I think this could be a fantastic opportunity to get to know the people behind all the guides that I surely will meet in SA.
I just hope I will be able to show some of them the same hospitality in Sweden some day.
Cheep flight
I’ve just booked my flight from Livingstone and found out that Zambia Air is pretty cheep. $170 is less than half what South Africa Airlines wants for the same flight. Nice.
Maiden name
A strange thing happened today. As I booked my Safari and filled out the form to pay with my credit card I was asked for my mothers maiden name! That was really the first time it happened to me. As we lived in Germany I think it happened to my mother some times. In Sweden this never happens, we use “personnummer” instead. Better – who knows. I think the question was charming.
Digital maps
This weekend I’ve been redoing my route from Cape Town to Jo’burg. On Friday I received the digital maps of southern Africa so now I can plan the bike part more in detail. For the moment it looks like it will be a trip for around 4000 km. Each day I will travel between 250 and 500 km depending on what I want to do.
